Job Summary
THE POSITION: The Foster Youth Services Coordinator I will be assigned to the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) Division of Student Support Services and shall primarily serve as a regional liaison for a cohort of school districts and partner agencies in Los Angeles County. They will also provide or facilitate technical assistance; service delivery and coordination; program monitoring; data collection; analysis, and reporting; assess and determine program needs; implement program objectives and conduct in-service training. This position requires specialized subject matter expertise in the Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program grant requirements, legislation related to pupils in foster care, as well as in-depth knowledge of the Department of Children and Family Services, County of Los Angeles Probation, District Student Support Services, and extensive, directly related and progressive experience in the area of foster youth services and programs. Under the direction of the Foster Youth Services Coordinator III, the Coordinator I assists in making decisions of considerable consequence, impacting LACOE Foster Youth Services via the gathering and interpretation of data, facts, procedures and policies. The Coordinator I meets regularly with various agencies and LACOE internal staff to coordinate and disseminate information and progress on program goals. General direction and supervision is provided by the LACOE Foster Youth Services Coordinator III.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience: Five or more years of comprehensive, directly related and progressive experience in the specified field. Education: Equivalent to a Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or closely related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: (Must attach a detailed certification/credential with document number to application. - Internal and external applicants, please provide a copy of each credential document as it appears on the California Teaching Credential website with the document number on it.): •Must possess and maintain a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS) in school social work, school counseling, or school psychology. •Child Welfare Authorization (CWA) preferred. •Certificate of Eligibility or Administrative Services Credential is preferred.
