Job Summary
Position Summary: Under the direction of the site administrator, to provide a Christ-centered educational program for pupils; to assist in other school programs and activities as part of the professional responsibilities; to perform other adjunct duties as assigned; to do other related work as required, all to the Glory of God. Duties and Responsibilities : 1. Provides an instructional program utilizing the adopted HP curriculum for assigned students by teaching assigned subject matter. 2. Implements administrative regulations and procedures as defined in the Parent & Student Handbook. 3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide planned experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize instructional time through the use of direct, small group, and collaborative instruction (i.e. teaches bell to bell). 4. Utilizes the appropriate instructional techniques, activities, strategies, and supplemental materials that will adapt the curriculum to the needs of individual pupils and be consistent with the goals of Horizon Prep. 5. Builds and maintains meaningful student relationships inside and outside of the classroom with the goal of discipleship. 6. Consistently uses technology in the classroom as a tool for student learning. 7. Evaluates, maintains accurate records of academic and social growth of students. 8. Communicates clearly with parents and supervisor regarding student progress, classroom procedures, student assignments and expectations, and school programs through the use of weekly newsletters, emails, websites, RenWeb, Schoology, and parent/teacher conferences. 9. Works together with the School of Rhetoric and School of Logic teams to plan and implement academically rigorous lessons during prep times and other allotted team planning time. 10. Title Of Position: High School Science/Physics Teacher & Mathematics

Horizon Prep in its commitment to a Christ-centered classical education, and in its effort to build a strong and competitive high school and middle school STEM program, invites applications for a full-time high school physics and math teaching position. The successful candidate is expected to teach an introductory physics/chemistry course to 9th grade students with the possibility of teaching algebra and/or geometry as well in order to integrate the curriculum between math and science. He/She is also expected to work in conjunction with middle school teachers in order to improve the STEM program. The candidate is expected to mentor students both spiritually and mentally through the Word of God, and God-centered curriculum.
Among the responsibilities the successful candidate is expected to exercise his/her creativity to design and integrate math with labs and in-class demonstrations in lectures in order to effectively communicate scientific concepts to the students, refurnish and maintain the physics and chemistry lab, maintain a constant communications with the parents and supervisor in order to track student progress, and help to train other math and science teachers in the use of equipment and demonstrations.
A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry, as well as a strong relationship with Christ, and a strong commitment to the Word of God are required. A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience is highly desired.

Desirable Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching
instruction.
2. Displays behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques, methods,
and conflict resolution procedures.

Plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive instructional program

implement education plans

Job Standards and Requirements
Education :
Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or
university. Preference of Masters degree or higher.
Experience:
Successful completion of a student teaching experience or approved internship at an
accredited college or university. Preference of minimum 3 years teaching experience
in the subject matter.
Credential:
A valid teaching credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher
Credentialing or other approving authorizing states to service in the assigned area
with intention to receive California credential. Subject area certified. Preference, if
applicable, for AP training and certification
