What are the responsibilities and job description for the RTC Milieu Counselor Per Diem - Fri/Sat/Sun availability position at Los Gatos Therapy Center?
Responsibilities:
As a Milieu Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our clients throughout their treatment journey, from admission to discharge. Your responsibilities include:
- Welcoming new clients and introducing them to their primary treatment team.
- Assessing and communicating any unique needs of new clients to the treatment team and ensuring those needs are addressed.
- Modeling positive dietary behaviors by joining clients during meal times.
- Promoting the well-being of all clients by serving as a positive role model in terms of dress, grooming, communication, and behavior.
- Facilitating the execution of the treatment plan established by the Therapist and providing day-to-day support.
- Leading therapeutic groups covering topics such as coping skills, relapse prevention, DBT, psychoeducation, and life skills.
- Assisting the Program Director and Therapists in various aspects of client care, including discharge planning and transition support.
- Attending weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings and sharing essential client progress information with the treatment team.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to attending all training, education, and staff enrichment activities.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
- Preferred: One year of experience in working with children, mental health, counseling, or the eating disorder field.
- Preferred: Spanish proficiency
