Job Description
· The Early Childhood Educator positively represents Lotus Early Learning by being fostering a child-centered, inquiry-based learning environment that supports the emotional, social, and cognitive development of young children. Using the principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the Early Childhood Educator will actively engage with children in a collaborative, respectful, and dynamic learning environment.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain excellent attendance for the sake of our client’s success

- Communicate effectively with peers, clients, and families
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
- Establish strong, supportive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
- Build a community of respect and trust by engaging in meaningful interactions with children, fostering a sense of belonging
- Guide children in their explorations, encouraging their curiosity and creativity through open-ended questioning and reflective thinking
- Support children’s emotional development by providing safe caring environment where each child’s voice is heard and valued
- Encourage child-led, project-based learning where children’s interests and questions drive the curriculum
- Create environments that inspire creativity and exploration, including a variety of natural open-ended materials and tools
- Foster a culture of documentation to capture children’s progress, ideas, and learning process by maintaining detailed observations and portfolios of each child’s development.
- Plan and facilitate experiences that nurture children’s independence, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Accept feedback and seek to improve skills and knowledge by staying informed on current trends in early childhood education and actively contribute ideas to improve early care and education services
- Seek support and training when necessary to enhance the learning environment and curriculum using reflective practices to continually improve teaching methods.
- Support children’s development of social skills by guiding them in cooperative play conflict resolution and empathy-building activities
- Support children’s development of emotional skills by encouraging self-regulation and respect for others, promoting collaboration and communication in group settings
- Attend to physical and emotional needs of children with sensitivity and professionalism
- Maintain the health and safety of all clients, families, and co-workers through a clean, safe and organized environment that promotes learning and exploration
- Follow health and safety regulations, including monitoring children during all activities and ensure safe play practices
- Assist with quality assurance activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

o 18 years or older
o Prior experience working with young children in an early childhood setting
·
o Child Development Associate (CDA) or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education
o Independent, organized, and detail oriented
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
o Understanding of child development and importance of play with preference to individuals who possess a strong understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education
o Patience, creativity and genuine passion for working with young children
o Ability to observe document and reflect on children’s learning and development
Working conditions
- This position will support children in supportive, inclusive and child-centered environments
- Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance
- Must maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Hire contingent upon clearance of Idaho Department of Health and Welfare background check
Job Type: Full-time
