We are seeking qualified applicants for a regular part-time Casa Academy Leader position. CASA Academy Leaders will assist in the planning and implementation of recreational activities related to the center's theme including indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, special projects, as well as quieter activities like snacks and homework time for children. CASA Academy is a highly respected afterschool program serving Loudoun County's elementary-aged youth. CASA Academy embraces the uniqueness of each child, inclusive of all individual abilities or needs.
The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, understand licensing procedures and standards, and be motivated to run a class of up to 36 children ranging in age from 5 years to 12 years of age. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.
We are currently hiring at the following location:
- Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center, Sterling, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of recreational activities such as indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts
Work schedule is from Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm following the school year calendar, will also be required to work the school out camps.
Salary commensurate with experience.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma.
- Virginia State licensing requires 6 months of experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities, this includes volunteer work.
- Must be physically able to keep up with young children.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication skills are required.
- An excellent work ethic is required.
- Transitions quickly when needed if required.
- Successful candidates will undergo a criminal background and Child Protective Services check.
- Within 30 Days of hire, CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained.
- A current TB test certification with a negative result is required.
- Must be willing to attend 24 hours of paid annual programmatic training during the school year to enhance skills and knowledge of school childcare and programming.
