Position Overview
The Secondary Computer Science Resource Teacher will work with the Computer Science Office to provide entry points for existing and new courses within the LCPS Computer Science Pathways for students, appropriate curriculum, and professional development for teachers as they implement new curriculum in their classrooms. The resource teacher will also support the course, Computer Science Independent Research, by providing curricular resources, professional development, and technical support for teachers. The resource teacher will work with DOI staff, Computer Science Office staff, and school-based staff to provide support and resources that deepen students' knowledge, skills, and habits of mind that characterize science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; and that align with and support the LCPS vision of Culturally Responsive Instruction and Deeper Learning for all students.

- Supports students' Deeper Learning by creating classroom resources that engage students in authentic, relevant, and inclusive classroom experiences.
- Supports the implementation of specialized computer science pathways (i.e. machine learning, cloud computing, etc.) into secondary courses within a variety of Computer Science pathways such as Data Management and Data Analytics, Networking, Cybersecurity or Network Development and acting as a subject matter expert for classroom teachers teaching the course.
- Supports integration of computer science education across the elementary, middle, and high school curriculum.
- Develops teachers' content and pedagogical knowledge in computer science by offering ongoing and sustained professional learning experiences.
- Works with Computer Science Instructional Facilitators to create student computer science experiences that align with LCPS instructional initiatives.
- Works with the Experiential Learning Coordinator to plan for internship/externship experiences for high school computer science students.

- Experience in curriculum development
- Experience with facilitating professional development with the VDOE Computer Science Standards of Learning in grades K-12
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications
- Excellent human relations skills
