Job Description:
Loudoun Valley Estates Torpedoes is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Assistant Coach. In this role, you will work closely with the Head Coach to ensure the development and success of our swimmers. As an Assistant Coach, you will play a vital role in fostering a positive and supportive environment while helping swimmers achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Must be available beginning the week before Memorial Day until the end of July.
- Must be available to coach practices Monday through Friday 4:30-8:00 p.m. from May 27 - June 13 (when LCPS ends) and then Monday through Friday 7:30 - 11:15 a.m. from June 16 - July 26 as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings 4:30 - 7:30.
- Must be available to coach meets on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
- Assist the Head Coach in assessing form, skill, and stamina of individual swimmers.
- Conduct practice sessions, providing instruction on competition rules, sportsmanship, teamwork, and technique.
- Work with swimmers ages 5 - 18 of varying swimming abilities.
- Assist in preparing the pool for swim practice and then putting all swim team equipment away after practice
- Assist in supervising volunteer junior coaches and ensure compliance with organizational rules and regulations.
- Identify and communicate equipment or supply needs to the Head Coach and Swim Team Board.
- Maintain awareness of swimmers' medical conditions and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with the Head Coach to plan practices.
- Ensure prompt attendance at all practices and swim meets, unless approved otherwise.
- Act as Head Coach in their absence, overseeing practice groups and notifying relevant parties of any schedule changes.
- Assist in determining individual and relay events for swim meets.
- Foster a positive team environment, emphasizing self-discipline, sportsmanship, and responsibility.
- Address parent inquiries and concerns, directing them to appropriate channels when necessary.
- Assist in determining and writing awards and certificates
Compensation:
- Based on your experience, paid in bi-weekly installments during the swim season.
Certification:
- Current Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding with CPR and First Aid.
- Certified Pool Operator License
Employment Conditions:
- Continued employment contingent on satisfactory job performance and compliance with policies.
- Submission of required certifications, background checks, and adherence to coaching conduct standards.
