Job Title: Welder
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Weld
Shift Hours: M-Th 7am-4:30pm, Fridays 7am-11am
Job Summary: The Robot Welder is responsible for production welding a variety of assemblies, and setup, operating and light maintenance of production equipment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Familiarity with robotic programming and automation and touch up welding techniques.
- Work from instructions and prints to arrange parts into weld fixtures, clamp pieces into position and tack weld and/or apply finished weld.
- Select proper equipment, set voltage and wire speed to the proper setting to obtain the correct strength and weld appearance.
- Safely operate forklift to load and unload component parts and finished product.
- Handle assorted raw materials, steel parts, and steel scrap.
- Maintain work area and production equipment in clean and orderly condition. Follow all standard safety regulations.
- Perform work in a manner that all products conform to prescribed quality standards.
- Responsible for gathering component parts from the kitting area for the ongoing job.
- Use and understand online ERP system for data collection, work instructions, routers, and prints.
- Operate small electric/air hand tools.
- On occasion, cross-train and operate some or all of the following production equipment: welding robot, press brake, spot welder, turret, rivut gun, Stud gun, and sander.
- Participate in and support continuous process improvements.
- Responsible for obtaining and verifying the appropriate pallet or CHEP bin for specific job requirements.
- Other duties may be assigned that pertain to the classification.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and overhead work. Employee has some exposure to fumes, glare and radiation of arc. The employee is occasionally required to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 years welding experience
Ability to safely and effectively operate welding and fabrication equipment
Ability to work independently and in a team
Ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with personnel
Ability to read and interpret documents, such as welding blueprints
Proficient with mathematical calculations and use of measuring devices
The ideal candidate will have:
Welding AAS Degree/Diploma/Certificate
5 years welding experience
Proficient with mathematical equations
Knowledge and experience working in a manufacturing/production environment
Forklift Certification
