Job Overview: The Lab Optician is responsible for fabricating optical lenses based on prescriptions provided by optometrists or ophthalmologists. The role involves using precision tools and equipment to cut, grind, and polish lenses to ensure proper fitting for eyewear frames. Attention to detail and quality control are essential to ensure that customers receive high-quality optical products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lens Fabrication: Cut, grind, shape, and polish lenses according to prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and quality, for Single vision, Bifocal and Progressive lens.
- Lens Processing: Operate lab equipment to produce lenses, including lens edger's, generators, and other machinery.
- Frame Fitting: Ensure lenses are accurately fitted to various frames based on size and shape.
- Quality Control: Inspect lenses and finished eyewear products for defects, ensuring they meet all regulatory and quality standards.
- Technical Support: Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to clarify prescriptions or make adjustments as needed.
- Inventory Management: Maintain and organize lens materials and other lab supplies.
- Customer Interaction: Assist with special orders or requests for lenses, ensuring clear communication with customers.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Health and Safety: Follow all lab safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); certification in opticianry is a plus.
- Experience working in an optical lab or related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of optical lenses, materials, and lab equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to interpret and work from prescriptions.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
