Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise students and parents regarding the Financial Aid application process,
- Perform verification according to Department of Education guidelines and regulations,
- Communicate with students via postal mail, email, phone or in person to resolve processing problems conflicting information,
- Package and award financial aid when needed,
- Advise students of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy and appeal process,
- Review SAP Academic Plans with students,
- Serves on Financial Aid Awareness Committee,
- Review financial aid application forms and student documents for accuracy and completeness,
- Assist with annual Financial Aid Awareness events,
- Reference and track students through NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System) and FAA Access,
- Assist with the coordination of documents for program reviews and audits,
- Assist with Financial Aid informational and FAFSA workshops for both parents and students,
- Attend conferences and workshops to remain abreast of current financial aid regulations,
- Assist with Attendance Report review and make any adjustments to student’s financial aid hours, if necessary,
- Represent the college in Financial Aid Outreach and community Events,
- Prepare, scan, and maintain student files,
- Review student’s record to identify suspicious activity, update Banner and place hold on student’s account until student has been properly verified if needed,
- Serve as the first point of contact for financial aid, and provide quality customer service support via phone, email, and in-person; acts as greeter for Student Services suite
- Review and respond to email correspondence and telephone calls made to Office of Financial Aid.
- Ensure that all student information and documentation remain confidential and secure.
- Manage email/text communications to various student populations as related to their financial aid.
- Maintains security of the Student Services suite.
- Assist with the collection and maintenance of all required documents related to financial aid in a manner that is consistent, organized, and meets all applicable guidelines.
- Maintain filing system and records as required by the Director.
- Assist students and potential students with general financial aid related questions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Required Education:
- Associate’s Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience in office administration, customer service, or a related role is required.
- Experience with Ellucian Banner, working in Financial Aid, or higher education setting is a plus.
- Applicants should also demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, technical and organizational skills.
