The HR Coordinator works as a member of the LSUS Human Resources department performing a wide range of tasks related to human resources management including employee orientation & onboarding, benefits administration, compensation, staffing/recruitment and maintaining data and positions in the HRIS system. Assists in administering the State Civil Service program rules, and procedures in accordance with guidelines. Serves as a resource to campus faculty and staff on university human resources policies and procedures. Is detail oriented and maintains accurate electronic and paper personnel action records. This summary is not intended to be a comprehensive or all-inclusive description of duties and responsibilities. The HR Coordinator is a full time, unclassified, exempt 12 month position.
Required Qualifications
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 years experience in general human resources functions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous university experience or experience with a state agency employer.
- Experience with Workday human capital management software Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Coordinate onboarding activities such as collecting new hire paperwork, scheduling equipment set-up, and arranging access to IT systems, parking, badge access etc.
- Schedule and conduct new hire orientation sessions.
- Facilitate introductions to key colleagues and departments.
- Assist new hires with navigating administrative processes, including benefits enrollment, payroll set-up, and IT support.
- Maintain and administer positions and employee data in the HRIS
- Process work flows for personnel actions, including position establishment, vacancies, new hires, promotion and data updates/changes
- Assist employees with documentation and enrollment in retirement programs for LSUS, including TRSL, LASERS, and supplemental retirement programs
- Process leave management requirements for the FMLA program
- Post and process staff vacancies on LA Careers and LSUS website
