The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
This position is located in the Nursing Department of the Northeast LA Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana. This is a PRN/WAE position.
The shifts are 12 hour shifts.
Days (6:45am-7:15pm)
Nights (6:45pm-7:15am)
The rate of pay is up to $29 hourly for this position plus shift differentials and premium pay (SEE BELOW):
PREMIUM PAY (per HOUR Physically Worked)
$7.00 work incentive pay upon hire
SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS (per HOUR Physically Worked)
Shift Diff 2nd Shift - $1.50
Shift Diff 3rd Shift - $3.00
Weekend/Holiday Shift Diff - $1.50

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.

Observes patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and reports significant changes.
Obtains specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.
Takes vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
Administers medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.
Transcribes physicians' orders and records medication and patient's condition on patient's charts and other records.
Receives and gives change of shift reports.
Requests stock drugs, medications, and supplies as assigned.
Administers CPR in emergency situations.
Admits, transfers, and discharges patients.
Gathers information about patient's past and current physical and mental status.
May administer oral and parenteral medication as prescribed by the physician and documents procedure.
Applies dressings, ointments, and other treatments as ordered and documents procedure.
Assists physicians with routine examinations and treatments.
Bathes, feeds, and makes patients comfortable.
Performs individual and group health teaching as assigned.
