Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years of experience in the construction or maintenance of transportation infrastructure; OR
Five years of experience in the fabrication, installation, or maintenance of traffic control devices; OR
Five years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic equipment, precision machinery, or electronic and electrical systems.

Broad review from a higher-level Engineer. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
Supervision Exercised
Direct over supervisory personnel, such as superintendents and foremen, performing construction and/or maintenance activities for transportation infrastructure. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Primarily located at the Department of Transportation and Development. Other locations may be approved by SCS.

Differs from other maintenance supervisory personnel by the presence of regional managerial responsibilities of construction and/or maintenance activities for transportation infrastructure.
Examples of Work
Job Duties And Responsibilities
30% Manages and directs activities associated with statewide installation and maintenance for interstate signs within each district. Manages four statewide crews for interstate sign maintenance. Provides technical assistance with signing and striping for the Districts. Responsible for Performance and Planning Reviews for sign crews. Directs field of inspections for signs and striping. Act as liaison with ITS, Districts and State Police for hurricane evacuations and recovery.
15% Serves as project inspector for signing and striping to assure all materials and application procedures are in compliance with DOTD policies and specifications. Also serves as field coordinator for contra flow which involves meeting with the districts, layout of all traffic control devices, material ordering, stocking material at storage sites for the districts and implementing traffic control devices.
15% Responds to after hour sign emergencies by assigning appropriate staff and ensuring required materials are available.
15% Assists the Sign and Pavement Markings Specification Technician to update or create procurement specifications for all components of traffic signs, including but not limited to installation hardware and supports.
10% Provides support for sign projects by working to ensure that utility documents have been executed and/or that utilities have been adjusted.
10% Provides training to district signing crews.
5% May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service Laws, Rules, Regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals and directives.
