Job Description:
The Assistant Academic Advisor will work with assigned teams at the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes (CCACSA), and will help provide the support necessary to assist student-athletes in reaching their full potential. The Assistant Academic Advisor will work in conjunction with the CCACSA team to develop academic plans and strategies by communicating and documenting student-athletes’ progress and implementing appropriate educational services. The Assistant Academic Advisor will support the CCACSA advising staff in the daily operations of the Academic Center and must be willing to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends. Additional responsibilities and other administrative duties will be assigned as needed. All employees are expected to comply with all CCACSA, LSU, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations. This position will report to the Assistant Director within Academic Affairs. The Assistant Academic Advisor position is a part-time appointment for a period from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. The position will be paid a competitive hourly rate (based on degree attainment) for time worked, up to 29 hours per week.
Job Duties
- Create, maintain, & manage accurate reports (grade reports, study hall attendance, accountability report, etc.).
- Responsible for working with a caseload of assigned students to develop skills in advising, time management, organization, and decision-making.
- Collaborate and assist with monitoring/organizing study hall; this could include evenings and/or weekends.
- Communicate pertinent information (deadlines, reminders, etc.) with student-athletes via Navigate, Teamworks, Retain, LSU Email, and other messaging systems.
- Apply LSU, NCAA, and SEC eligibilty requirements while monitoring eligibility standards, and developing academic support for students by designing individualized academic plans.
- Assist with New Student Orientation, Summer Academic Success Program, and onboarding of incoming student-athletes.
- Create and implement a class monitoring program, which includes scheduling, training, and delegating tasks to student workers on a daily basis.
- Engage in Tiger Life, Guest Coach Programming, and CCACSA staff meetings.
- Assist with official and unofficial recruiting visits; this could include evenings and/or weekends.
- Complete all mandatory staff and campus trainings including but not limited to NCAA compliance, Title IX, and Ethics.
- Attend all meetings and presentations for the CCACSA Assistantship Development Program and actively participate and collaborate with others in workshops and activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
