The candidate will join two clinical pathologists and two future residents along with six medical technologists. The clinical pathology laboratory is located within the teaching hospital and receives a varied caseload from companion, equine, food, and exotic animal patients.Job Responsibilities : 50% Participation in diagnostic services (hematology, clinical chemistry, and cytology) to the SVM Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) and the LSU Diagnostics Laboratory.25% Independent and collaborative research endeavors.20% Contribute towards didactic and laboratory instruction in veterinary clinical pathology of veterinary students, interns, residents, and graduate students. Cooperate with other faculty members in training interns / residents in other specialty areas.5% Committee service to VCS and Vet Med.Minimum Qualifications : Assistant Professor : DVM (or equivalent);Successfully completed a formal residency in clinical pathology and be certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in Clinical Pathology or be Board eligible.Associate Professor : DVM with 5 years related research / teaching / clinical experience.Specific experience : Must have board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in Clinical Pathology or be Board eligible.Professor : DVM with 8 years related research / teaching / clinical experience. Specific experience : Must have board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in Clinical Pathology.Preferred Qualifications : Assistant Professor : DVM (or equivalent) and an advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D.), excellence in classroom and small group instruction, and excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are highly desirable.Associate Professor : DVM with 5 years of related research / teaching / clinical experience. Diplomate status from the ACVP. Strong teaching abilities, advanced degrees and / or experience in team research.Professor : DVM with 8 years related research / teaching / clinical experience and Ph.D with specific experience in Diplomate status from the ACVP. Strong teaching abilities, advanced degrees and / or experience in team research.Special or Physical Qualifications : May be required to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.Physical Requirements-Required to be capable of lifting more than 50 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, vision near sight, vision far sight, able to reach below the shoulder, pushing, pulling, grasping, sitting, bending, crawling, squatting, and / or twisting.
