Program Coordinator – Academic Success
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Success, the Program Coordinator for Academic Success is a key member of the Student Success team within Residential Education. The Coordinator serves as a point of contact for Residential College operational support for the rectors through their use of in-hall classrooms and assists in departmental recruitment for Residential Colleges at orientations and visiting days.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
- Serves as the lead for course scheduling duties and the direct liaison to the Office of the University Registrar, and monitors course section enrollment, in consultation with the rectors
- Supports Residential Life communications office as the point of contact for faculty/rectors, including coordinating and implementing marketing efforts
- Uses university systems including Workday and StarRez to solve problems related to student enrollment in various course sections, residence halls, and residential colleges
- Coordinates classroom usage and reservations within LLPs and communicates with stakeholders and serves as the primary liaison for rector staff members affiliated with LLPs including indirect oversight of in-hall staff efforts within LLP communities
- Ensures highest level programming in interventions provided to students by seeking continuous improvement and builds a culture of community/cohesion within LLP communities.

The Coordinator for Academic Success will work closely with the Assistant Director for Academic Success to create and deliver training sessions that increase staff awareness and commitment providing support for faculty and student staff who operate within an LLP community to improve the overall experience and outcomes of LLPs at LSU. -
Engage in Assessment Initiatives
Data is a powerful tool only when we can make sense of the information and utilize it to improve our current practices. LSU Residential Life has access to an incredible amount of student data supporting programmatic and occupancy management that is currently underutilized. The Coordinator for Academic Success will collect and report retention and satisfaction data, measure learning outcomes related to these communities, and provide ongoing training on utilizing and making meaning of data presented through professional development opportunities. -
Telling our story
As a member of the recruitment team for new students and faculty members, this Coordinator for Academic Success has an opportunity to learn what pieces are missing in the understanding of this student success initiatives. Working in conjunction with the communications team in Residential Life and the LLP academic/campus partners, the Coordinator will work to create a marketing plan for LLPs to allow a reciprocal relationship of engagement and advancing knowledge within and across institutional units.

DEPARTMENT OF RESIDENTIAL LIFE MISSSION STATEMENT
Provide dynamic student-focused learning communities that support development and academic success in clean, safe, and sustainable facilities that meet the needs of the campus community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Support (35%): Serves as the contact person for course scheduling duties and the direct liaison to the Office of the University Registrar; monitors course section enrollment, in consultation with the rectors, advises Office of University Registrar on when to release unused seats; maintains spreadsheet of courses, curriculum, and enrollment; adds course schedules to StarRez for course sections taught in residence halls; coordinates these seats with the Assignments team for student housing assignments in each Residential College
- Program Assessment (25%): Assembles and analyzes statistical data for assessment purposes including but not limited to work with the LLPs' contribution to LSU’s strategic plan; prepares information for the LLP Annual Report; completes assessment assignments at the request of the Assistant Director; uses university systems including Workday and StarRez to solve problems related to student enrollment in various course sections, residence halls, and residential colleges
- Administrative Support (15%): Coordinates classroom usage and reservations within LLPs and communicates with stakeholders; prepares materials for meetings and facilitates updates and reports from faculty and in-hall staff; serves as the primary liaison for rector staff members affiliated with LLPs; plans and executes Residential College orientation and retreats throughout the year
- Communication & Recruitment (10%): Supports Residential Life communications office as the point of contact for faculty/rectors, including coordinating and implementing marketing efforts; maintains accurate information on housing website, blog, event calendars and digital signage; provides customer service via email management for LLPs; represents the LLPs at on and off campus recruitment events, orientations and tours
- Quality Control (5%): Ensures every aspect of programmatic outputs including administrative tasks, implementation, and overall design exudes a high degree of quality. Embraces and executes the marginal gains approach and seeks to increase level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in department for continuous improvement every academic year.
- Direct Student Engagement (5%): Opportunity to teach an introductory UNIV 1005 course for LSU Eunice students; advise undergraduate Peer Mentors hired to assist with LLP administration
- Other Duties as Assigned (5%): Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director for LLPs or the Associate Director for Student Success. This includes but is not limited to efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services, Finals Testing, other special projects etc.

- Master’s Degree
