What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Manager- program Associate position at Louison House?
This staff member will provide intakes, assessments, along with outreach and support to assist people to find housing and if possible to avoid needing to enter a shelter. Working with a staff team, this worker will assist with follow-up services and in prioritizing for shelter beds or other Louison House housing programs.
This job needs a very organized person who can deal with paperwork details and at the same time be compassionate in working with people who come for services or are part of one of our housing programs.
Many of the people we work with have experienced substance addiction, mental health issues and homelessness. Louison House, Inc. is a nonprofit agency, well known in the community and serving people struggling with homelessness or housing instability in Northern Berkshire and beyond.
The job main location will be North Adams, but there will be travel to work with people at our emergency or transitional housing programs. We are looking for someone with knowledge of Northern Berkshire and the Berkshires in general along with the ability to quickly learn and adapt in various settings.
This job requires previous experience in human services, a valid driver’s license and vehicle, strong math and computer skills, specifically with Excel and Word and the ability to learn simple data entry systems. We need the person to have a working knowledge of the Berkshire social service agencies and programs, comfort with people with addiction and mental health issues, and to be a very dependable person. We are looking for someone who can work in a fast paced environment as a team player that can problem solve quickly with the clients, while paying attention to details and to the specific needs of the client.
People Skills needed: good communication skills, empathy for people in difficult or crisis situations, non-judgmental, and problem solving skills.
Computer skills needed: Word, Excel, and the knowledge of or the ability to learn data entry for a housing data system.
