The position serves as the lead of Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness’ Center for Health Equity and its 33-member team , comprised of epidemiologists, program managers, policy analysts, quality improvement coordinators, and administrative staff, that works to address the root causes of health inequities and incorporate a health equity lens into decision making and daily work.Responsibilities : Vision and Strategy : Develop a vision, strategy, and framework to ensure that health equity is at the center of all the department’s work, programs, data systems, policies, and practices.System wide Coordination : Collaborate with city agencies, academic institutions, community-based organizations, health partners, providers, residents, and others to develop and implement strategies that result in a measurable and sustained improvement in addressing health disparities and the health status of historically underserved and marginalized populations.Skills for Success : Health Equity Champion : Strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and addressing the systemic factors that produce health inequities and health disparities. Demonstrated experience applying these principles to the field of public health and integrating them into daily work.Operational Leadership : Experience managing large teams with staff at different organizational levels and with different backgrounds, matrixing staff across teams, financial management, grant administration, procurement, contracting, and other administrative support services to oversee and assess operations.Problem Solving : Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.Summary Objective : The purpose of this position is to assist the Director in the operation of the department and plans and develops new procedures, formulates policy and prepares budgetary data. Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the Director and possesses signatory powers in such absence. This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.
