Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to register patients and records medical and financial information.
This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Answers phone calls, provides information, takes messages, and routes calls.
Operates a computer to enter, code, store and edit data and information, and prepares reports.
Sorts and distributes mail.
Registers patients and maintains clinic appointment book and patient flow during clinic sessions.
Obtains and records financial and medical information from patients on forms.
Prepares and witnesses consent forms and processes patients records.
Assists nurses in taking and recording the patient's temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, height and other measurements.
Labels and organizes specimens to be transported to the laboratory for analysis.
Types letters, memorandums, reports and other documents.
Compiles records and reports routine statistical information.
Maintains departmental and patient records and files.
Prepares and requisitions clinic and office supplies.
Controls and monitors inventory levels of supplies and materials.
Reconciles cash collection with receipt book.
Posts information on forms and records.
Greets the public and provides information, instruction and assistance.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
One (1) year of clerical, secretarial or customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
