Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to provide analytical, technical and administrative knowledge in the life cycle of acquiring, developing, implementing and maintaining information technology solutions.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Drives the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver enterprise business solutions for various end user bases.
Consults with customers to develop business requirements, processes and specifications.
Maintains compliance to system requirements.
Tests vendor releases and upgrades.
Develops application programs and system documentation.
Analyzes problems concerning software applications.
Works with vendors to resolve discrepancies and system failures.
Works closely with user departments during software evaluation, systems development, conversion, testing and implementation of systems.
Implements solutions in software applications according to projects or needs.
Analyzes and creates workflows to verify or develop program sequence.
Creates and executes test plans for software enhancements.
Compiles documentation of program development and subsequent revisions.
Provides support tasks for assigned applications, such as release upgrades, testing and troubleshooting.
Responds to inquiries or complaints from outside organizations, and client departments.
Prepares reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ensures that work with administrators, internal department, other departments and staff maintains a positive image of the department and services provided.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
Four (4) years of systems analysis, programmer analyst or applications development or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.
Must complete the annual security awareness training.
Must be on 24-hour call.
Must provide one's own source of transportation.
Must work a varied schedule.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
