Enters data into a computer
Explains procedures, laws, codes and ordinances, and provides information to the public
Obtains information from the public, processes applications, and issues permits, licenses or other official documents
Collects and balances fees paid
Examples of Work:
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Answers phone calls, provides information, takes messages, and routes calls
Duplicates and collates forms, reports, correspondence and other documents Receives and distributes mail Reviews forms for completeness and accuracy
Files documents and maintains records and files Obtains information from the public, assists the public in completing applications and forms, and explains procedures, policies, laws and ordinances
Checks and verifies information on required supporting documents received from other agencies Enters customer demographic information and codes into the computer, updates and edits files, locates and retrieves information, generates routine reports, and corrects computer data entry mistakes
Collects correct amount of money from customer for fees assessed and issues proper computer generated license, renewal, permit, receipt or other official document
Balances fees collected with manual and computer records, and prepares bank deposit or daily report
Responds to callers or walk-in customers; explains procedures to follow to gain compliance with laws, ordinances, procedures, fines and fees; and distributes literature on department services and programs Inspects ground transportation to determine the condition of the vehicle before issuing a permit or license
Prepares, processes and mails correspondence, forms, notices and supporting documentation to customers and service providers
Contacts service providers for additional information, and refers customers to other agencies for assistance
Performs related work
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or the equivalent
Two years of permit processing, clerical, customer service, computer data entry, bank teller or bookkeeping experience
Other Minimum Requirements:
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL
Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
Physical Requirement & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Communicates with individuals in person and utilizes all types of communication media
Sufficient vision is required to perform inspections
