Essential Functions
- Oversees personnel engaged in processing, decontaminating, sterilizing and delivering a wide variety of patient care items and surgical instruments according to established policies and procedures.
- Coordinates, develops and maintains functions of Central Sterile with all user departments.
- Maintains proper storage and adequate inventory of designated surgical instrumentation.
- Monitors equipment distribution and maintain accurate records.
- Inspects area daily and take corrective action when situation does not meet standards or requirements.
- Ensures maintenance of established quality assurance program standards by performing item sterilization tests, interpreting data and graphs and verifying correct operation of sterilizers.
- Oversees and assist with decontamination and sterilization of reusable equipment returned from user departments.
- Ensures that department policies are reviewed annually and updated at least every three years or as necessary.
- Reviews sterilization records for accuracy and completeness.
- Identifies issues and initiates process changes in collaboration with the OR Manager.
- Project management or project/renovation work experience will also be helpful.
Qualifications and requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Associate's degree- Preferred
