JOB SUMMARY:
Develops and implements various academic support systems to facilitate student success including directing various learning enrichment services. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Academic Success Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Promotes and integrates the Franciscan values of community, learning, reverence and service
• Manages the daily operations of the Academic Success Center that provides comprehensive learning support for all students including tutoring, academic coaching, structured learning assistance, workshops, and testing services
• Creates and maintains learning outcomes, assessment strategies and conducts assessment, including documenting comprehensiveness of services provided and student learning achieved in the Academic Success Center
• Collaborates with faculty, administration, and staff to provide successful learning enrichment services for all students
• Oversees the use of technology for learning in the Academic Success Center
• Oversees the business aspect of the Academic Success Center (including budget, payroll, PTO, schedules etc.)
• Directs hiring, training, and supervision of all Academic Success Center staff including conducting annual reviews and assisting staff in needed areas of improvement
• Reviews current best practice strategies for student success and implements those strategies that support the student population at Lourdes
• Advises and supports international students, oversees compliance with federal and institutional policies regarding student immigration, and serves as the university's Principal Designated School Official (PDSO).
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Actively participates in college functions (such as open houses, orientation, commencement, and convocation)
• Monitors best practices in the Academic Success Center to assure successful replication of applicable practices
• Manages budgets for tutors, student workers, and Academic Success Center
• Oversees hiring, training, evaluating and supervising all federal work study employees/student workers
• Prepares departmental reports each semester and annually
• Assists with Academic Probation procedures (letters, committee, review of transcripts) at the end of each semester
• Ensures security and confidentiality of student data
• Coordinates Residual ACT testing for Department of Education by scheduling, ordering, proctoring, and grading Residual ACTs for Education students
• Oversees the Accuplacer Placement testing in the Academic Success Center as Administrator by ordering tests, placing scores in Prowler, and communicating with Admissions and Advising regarding student placement, as well as troubleshooting issues with Accuplacer and the Testing Coordinator
• Manages the TutorTrac scheduling system as Administrator by supervising users, training employees and coaches, troubleshooting issues, and changing of semester codes for both the Academic Success Center and Library
• Develops student success and retention initiatives, especially for international students.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree in relevant discipline
• Minimum three years of progressively responsible professional experience in learning assistance centers, academic support services, and/or learning enrichment services
• Membership in professional associations (NADE, NTA, NCLCA, CRLA) a plus
• Knowledge of successful retention strategies
• Experience in coordinating the delivery of services to students and in selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating paraprofessional staff
• Effective communication skills (ability to present clear and concise information both orally and in written form)
• Working knowledge of computer assisted instruction software, database and spreadsheet computer applications, web-based instructional delivery systems, and on-line tutoring or similar technology (including Canvas, Banner/Prowler, TutorTrac, Kurzweil, Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and Publisher)
• History of positive performance evaluations
• Must work well with people, diverse populations, and be committed to providing a nurturing approach to learning with technology
• Teaching and tutoring experience a plus
• Supervisory experience
