The Cardiac Sonographer plays a pivotal role in the healthcare delivery system, primarily focusing on the use of ultrasound technology to assess the heart's structure and function. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms on patients according to established protocols.
  • Obtain high-quality images and data for accurate assessment.
  • Prepare and maintain a clean, safe environment for patients during procedures.
  • Administer stress tests to evaluate heart function under increased workload.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists to interpret echocardiographic findings.
  • Document all imaging procedures and maintain patient records accurately.
  • Explain procedures to patients, alleviating any fears or anxieties.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs during the testing process.
  • Assist in the development of departmental protocols and procedures for best practices.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in ultrasound technology and cardiac care.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes and peer review activities.
  • Train and mentor junior staff in echocardiographic techniques.
  • Engage in continuing education to maintain licensure and certification.
  • Coordinate with other healthcare professionals for interdisciplinary patient care.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required by the department.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent credential.
  • Proven experience in echocardiography, ideally within a clinical setting.
  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and pathophysiology.
  • Proficiency in using echocardiographic equipment and software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keen problem-solving skills to address issues promptly.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of safety practices in handling imaging equipment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
