Reports to- Chief Financial Officer (CFO)


Position Summary

This is an opportunity for an Individual with construction accounting experience to work for an established General Contractor for private, commercial, and governmental projects.

The position affords an opportunity to an individual who is ambitious, collaborative, detail oriented and motivated to be part of a respected, established organization for gainful employment in Northern Arizona.

The position is considered a salaried, full time, in-office, benefited position based upon 40 hours a week, although workload or circumstances may sometimes necesitate additional hours in a week. Benefits include: full health care benefits, At least 10 Company-paid holidays, paid time off/sick leave, profit sharing and participation in a defined benefit retirement program.


Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Being part of a team to process accounts payable and payroll functions.
  • Consistently processing bi-monthly check runs for AP.
  • Processing weekly Union and certified payroll.
  • Responsible for garnishment, final check payments, etc.
  • Processing Certified payroll and tracking and gathering subcontractor Certified Payroll.
  • Processing bank deposits as required.
  • Assisting in maintaining and tracking all subcontract-related prelien and lien waivers required and submitted by subcontractors.
  • Routing vendor items to the Project Managers for approval and processing the vendor/credit card statements and payment thereof.
  • Maintaining DMV registration for the vehicle fleet.
  • Adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining confidentiality regarding payroll, subcontracts and any and all company business.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with subcontractors, management, and co-workers by gaining their trust and respect.
  • Other duties as assigned. Must be a team player and willing to cross train on other department roles.
  • Reports directly to the CFO.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times
  • May involve periods of standing, such as operating at a copier/fax/scanner
  • Regularly required to receive and understand communications which can be shared with others through writing and typing
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and color vision
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing
  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing the reading of printed material, graphics, and computer displays
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or craw

Work Environment

The work environment includes an office work environment which is generally quiet to moderate in noise level. If in the field or at work events outside of the office the noise level may be moderate to loud. At construction job sites, personal protective equipment may be required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • General knowledge and experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Excellent computer, typing skills.
  • High school diploma. At least some college, preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an office setting, preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Certified Payroll experience, preferred
  • Construction Accounting experience, a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with excellent follow-up skills, while maintaining high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • May involve periods of standing, such as operating at a copier/fax/scanner.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and orally so others will understand.
  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, graphics, and computer display.
