What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Community Development & Support Services position at Lower East Side Partnership?
The Lower East Side Partnership (LESP) is a not-for-profit business improvement district (BID) serving the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The Partnership’s mission is to enhance the unique and diverse character of the neighborhood by improving overall quality of life and support the continued growth and vitality of the local economy.
LESP provides a comprehensive suite of neighborhood services, such as marketing, events, public space enhancements, sanitation, and public realm management that are designed to aid in the creation of a thriving community for our merchants, property owners, and residents. Additionally, LESP is the community partner for Essex Market, and provides programming and promotional support to the anchor neighborhood institution.
Job Responsibilities
Community Planning & Development
- Develop and implement a community outreach plan that connects stakeholders to BID services and expansion efforts, including strategies, such as door-to-door outreach and in-person programming;
- Maintain records of all merchants and property owners district-wide managing relationships and internally tracking service delivery requests;
- Attend community board meetings, and other community meetings as needed; to better understand local concerns and get to know stakeholders;
- Manage public realm design and planning initiatives, and;
- Create district maps, reports and presentations to communicate daily work effort and strategic goals.
