ABOUT LLCHC
Lower Lights Christian Health Center (LLCHC) transforms the overall health of Central Ohio, serving one individual at a time. We are focused on whole-person wellness, available to ALL in Central Ohio who need it, regardless of ability to pay! We served over 15,000 patients - with 40% being uninsured - and totaled 50,000 medical encounters!
Operating out of seven locations, we offer medical care (primary care, dental, vision, OB/GYN, telehealth), behavioral health care, 340B pharmacy, nutritional assistance programs, and more. Working hours are Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday morning coverage.
SUMMARY:
- Develop, maintain, and utilize a strong working knowledge of important insurance eligibility requirements and other relevant trade tools
- Coordinate all patient data on a real-time basis, following all department procedures to accurately verify reported information, check references and records and ensure program guideline compliance
- Interact with team and current program users in a professional manner as well as convey appropriate and accurate information
- Perform continuous assessment of benefit recipients and continued eligibility concerns
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize the MITS system & other payor websites to verify patient insurance
- Correct any insurance information in a patient’s file
- Verify with payors when there is a discrepancy in the information on file
- Verify insurance via phone and insurance portals for patients prior to their appointments
- Provide guidance to front office, billing and other staff regarding issues related to insurance eligibility.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- General knowledge of state and federally funded public benefits programs preferred.
- Understanding of different types of insurance (Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial, etc.)
- Computer experience, skill and typing ability sufficient to operate the EHR system.
- Skill and capability to function effectively and calmly in an unpredictable environment.
