Instructor Aide
Purpose of this position
The Instructor Aide will assist the Instructor with providing individualized meaningful day and career exploration services in accordance with all DDA regulations and LSE policy and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Instructor Aide is responsible for both group and individual skill building activities both in the building and in the community. Works directly with individuals to learn new tasks and oversees participants to ensure choice, health and safety. Must be able to stand for the majority of the shift. Other duties as assigned.
Direct Services
- Teach participant vocational skills and monitor their quality
- Monitor the behavior of participants while working
- Assist participants to develop ways to deal with inappropriate work behaviors
- Assist with skill building meaningful day activities based on individual plan and preferences
- Must be able to stand for most of the shift to assist and train individuals served
- Coverage of other areas as needed
- Engage in community activities with participants based on individual interest
- Provide personal care as needed
Documentation
- Document behavioral observations, goal progress and vocational work skill progress
- Document daily attendance and track activities to be entered for billing purposes
Communication
- Must maintain good communication with coworkers, participants and customers
- Will maintain a positive attitude and treat others with respect
- Coordinate with instructors to create and follow monthly schedule of skill building activities
Requirements
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience with Windows applications and ability to learn new programs
- Excellent organization skills, accuracy, dependable work habits and good communication skills
- Good observation and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass all required trainings
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
