QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree or higher in Administration and Supervision.
- Valid Certification in Administration.
- Five (5) years of successful experience in teaching and school administration.
- Three (3) years of successful experience in maintenance, Child
- Nutrition Programs, and/or transportation.
- Physical ability and dexterity to visit school sites and decision making relative to maintenance, construction, and problem situations.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Lowndes County Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
- Provides the purchasing department with contractor performance qualification data.
- Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance.
- Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
- Estimates cost of repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
- Assigns and supervises crews of craftspeople for maintenance work such as replacing worn or defective wiring, switches, faucets, plumbing fixtures, and the like, and repairing fencing, asphalt, concrete, ceilings, and the like.
- Lays out and inspects work, and assists crewmembers.
- Develops a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency.
- Prepares reports on costs of work done, materials used, labor expended.
- Orders materials as needed, and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.
- Assists Superintendent in planning and oversight of new construction and renovation projects.
- Consults with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventive maintenance programs.
- Maintains records as required.
- Recruits, screens, recommends for hiring and orientation of all craftspeople necessary for the maintenance program.
- Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services.
- Establishes both long and short-range goals in keeping with requirements and policies of the State of Alabama and the Lowndes County Board of Education.
- Develops the Child Nutrition Programs as a practical application of sound nutrition and directed toward meeting the nutritional and education needs of students.
- Interprets goals and objectives of the Child Nutrition Program to Superintendent, Board of Education, students, faculty, parents and the public through committees, speeches, school visitation and mass media.
- Promotes and assists with inservice training in nutrition education for teachers.
- Works with curriculum leadership in developing a sequential program of nutrition education.
- Develops nutrition education aids to include printed matter, visual aids, instructional manuals and other informative materials to be used by Child Nutrition Program personnel and teachers.
- Establishes standards for food preparation and service that emphasizes the use of standardized recipes, service size and centralized menus that are creative, accepted by students and nutritionally adequate.
- Establishes specifications, policies, procedures and standards of quality for central purchasing of food, non-food supplies, and equipment.
- Plans for effective financial management and utilization of funds available, personnel and equipment.
- Develops and implements procedures for receiving, storing and distributing food and supplies.
- Establishes a plan for participating in the commodity distribution program and distribution to each school.
- Implements and maintains an accurate accounting system and procedures for the management and control of income, food, labor, supplies, equipment, and other costs to meet the State of Alabama Department of Education requirements.
- Maintains high standards of sanitation and safety in all phases of the Child Nutrition Program to comply with local and state health regulations.
- Evaluates continuously the program to meet changing needs and improvements in the program.
- Assists local board, architects, engineers, and other school personnel in planning and equipping new or remodeled Child Nutrition Program facilities. Responsible for layout, selection of equipment, furnishing and supplies.
- Attends and participates in local, state and national professional meetings.
- Establishes good rapport with students, teachers, support personnel, administrators and the public.
- Maintains current source of information regarding the Child Nutrition Program, basic nutrition, food service equipment, new products, and trends of the food service industry.
- Coordinates the selection and distribution of textbooks.
- Develops school district’s safety plan and ensures each school has a school safety plan.
- Monitors school district to eliminate hazardous conditions.
- Monitors schools to ensure monthly safety drills are being conducted in compliance with
- state regulations.
- Evaluates annually all persons directly under his/her supervision. Such evaluates shall be made a part of the appropriate person’s personnel record/file.
- Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or required by the Superintendent.
