Job Description:
The Director of Campus Ministry reports directly to the Director of Ignatian Mission and Identity. The primary responsibility of the Director of Campus Ministry is to provide pastoral ministry and faith formation opportunities for all students to grow in their relationship with God and one another. Our ministry is in anchored in our Catholic identity and Ignatian Spirituality (i.e. the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius). The Director of Campus Ministry serves as a Christ-centered example for our community, as a practicing Catholic who actively strives to live the Good News through vibrant participation in personal spiritual development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and directs spiritual retreat programing for all students (grades six through twelve). These formation opportunities include offering a retreat for each grade in addition to a variety of optional experiences including: a leadership retreat and other opportunities (i.e. Annual 7th grade retreat with St. Ignatius Loyola Academy).
- Grounded in Catholic liturgy, leads Sacramental opportunities for the school community, including managing the monthly and/or Holy Day Masses in addition to assisting with organization of special occasions, including but not limited to, Mother/Son, Father/Son, 8th Grade Celebration, and Baccalaureate Mass.
- Creates opportunities, outside of retreats and masses, for students to cultivate their spirituality and learn about ways to pray including leading the school’s daily Ignatian Examen prayer (5-minutes per day).
- Ensures Catholic vocation promotion and pro-life initiatives, in addition to supporting the Society of Jesus in calls to action, are included in annual programming.
- Serve as the primary Sacristan for the Loyola Chapel, responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the chapel, managing the procurement of liturgical supplies, and ensuring all liturgical items and spaces are properly arranged for Mass and other religious services.
- Collaborates with the Counseling Department on a variety of initiatives including:
- Serves as a representative on the Student Services Committee
- Works collaboratively with adult members of the community who serve as volunteer leaders in our Campus Ministry programming.
- Collaborates with all members of the Ignatian Mission and Identity Team in support of sponsored initiatives.
- Manages the Campus Ministry budget.
- Openness to Teaching a Theology class if needed.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree required (Theology, Religious Studies, Philosophy), Master’s degree is preferred, from an accredited institution.
- 4-5 years of related experience in ministry.
- Is a faith-filled, practicing Catholic.
- Possesses a well-developed knowledge of and experience in Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
- Exhibits strong professionalism with a Christ-centered approach towards all people.
- Professional experience in an educational setting, especially working with students from grades six through twelve.
- Engages in personal, educational and faith development. Commitment to communicating and sharing the Jesuit, Catholic mission, ideals and values, especially as they relate to issues of faith, justice, and spirituality.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to create effective and engaging programs and presentations.
- Flexibility to work weekends, overnight retreats and evenings as required.
- Is flexible and willing to embrace growth and change.
Salary : $54,000 - $60,000
