What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Assistant position at Loyola Marymount University?
Under direct supervision this position will conduct research activities and perform project coordination on active grant activity. Under the supervision of the program director, this position provides opportunities for contributing to peer-reviewed publications, grant applications, and conference presentations.
Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Apply quantitative and qualitative research methods and statistical training to support active research protocols, including federally funded studies. Coordinate project implementation, registration of research protocols, data collection/entry, database management, evaluation/analysis, dissemination of study findings, and completion of study progress reports.
Implement approaches for participant recruitment (including social media targeted advertisement), screening, and consenting.
Prepare IRB applications and maintain study registration information (e.g., Open Science Framework, ClinicalTrials.gov).
Serve as a liaison between departments and external resources.
Conduct semi-structured interviews with research participants, under the supervision of the study.
Principal Investigator (PI) Opportunities to assist the PI in mentoring undergraduate research assistants.
Opportunities to contribute to peer-reviewed publications, grant applications, and conference presentations.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications
- 's Degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience of research project coordination and conducting clinical or behavioral science research . Strong understanding and verifiable application of research
- methodology and data analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: regulations pertaining to protection of human subjects, implementation of clinical trials, online survey administration, and qualitative interviewing.
- Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports that incorporate complex information.
- Highly developed organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Qualtrics, Microsoft Office, and statistical analysis (e.g., STATA, NVIVO, SPSS) software systems.
Salary range
$22.88 - $28.61 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
