The Department of Religious Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 1, 2025.
We seek a scholar who can contribute to our department’s mission of fostering interdisciplinary and inclusive engagement with religious traditions, their cultural contexts, and their philosophical underpinnings.

- Teach three courses per semester including Catholicism in the Department of Religious Studies
- Contribute to the college’s Catholic Studies program and advance Loyola’s Jesuit Catholic mission
- Maintain an active research agenda
- Provide mentorship to students and contribute to the department’s academic initiatives
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service
- A PhD in Religious Studies, Philosophy, or a closely related discipline. The degree must be completed by the time of appointment.
- A demonstrated ability or potential to support the college’s Catholic Studies program
- Expertise in areas such as the Philosophy of Religion
- A commitment to innovative teaching, scholarship, and community engagement
