Loyola University New Orleans is seeking an experienced teacher, musician, conductor, and colleague who displays innovative approaches to educational pedagogy and ensemble conducting, to serve as the Conductor of Wind Bands and Coordinator within the School of Music & Theatre Professions. The successful candidate will oversee the artistic, academic, and administrative needs of the Winds, Brass and Percussion programs at Loyola. The appointment will be made at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor and will begin in August 2025.Teaching duties will include:

- Direction of Loyola’s Wind Ensemble and Concert Bands, providing artistic vision and academic leadership of the Loyola University Band Program.
- Teach Undergraduate and Graduate-level courses in conducting and music education.
- Supervising and fostering opportunities for student conductors, both in rehearsal and concert settings
Additional Duties:
- Administrative leadership of the Band Program, including the faculty and events of the applied studios in the wind and percussion areas, as well as oversight of band office work study students.
- Manage instrument inventory, band library, and other management/administrative duties of the Band Program.
- Active participation in all stages of the recruitment and admissions process, including, but not limited to: Maintaining active, working relationships with high school band directors throughout the region to recruit for the band program, leading high school band clinics, coordinating with other faculty, travel, and other recruitment efforts.
- Organize and host the Loyola Bourgeois Honor Band in the fall and the Invitational Band Festival in the spring.
- Maintain working relationships with other music faculty, admissions, marketing, and events coordinators.
- Participation/representation on various college and university committees as needed.
- Serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate and graduate music students.
- Master’s degree in conducting or music education with significant professional experience.
- Experience teaching and conducting at the secondary and/or post- secondary level.
- Evidence of successful leadership within the school, community, and the profession.
Desired Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in conducting or music education or near completion by the time of appointment.
- Evidence of establishing and conducting a strong band program at high school, collegiate and/or professional levels.
- Established record of accomplishment in performance, teaching, and leadership within the school, community, and the profession.
