Summary
The Night Supervisor is the store’s primary inventory officer. The position provides an employee the opportunity to learn and practice all elements of inventory and stocking. In addition, the Night Supervisor is responsible for store closing procedures. They oversee and direct staff as they complete cleaning and closing duties. The intention of the Night Supervisor position is to help the employee master the store’s inventory so that if they continue to be promoted they will easily understand ordering and receiving procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide Premium Grade Customer Service to all Lil’ Pantry customers.
- Oversee and direct the work of cashiers, deli staff, and gas attendants to ensure that customers receive the same level of care from all of our staff as they do from the manager.
- Help foster a positive working environment, and communicate any employee concerns to the General Manager.
- Resolve customer problems or complaints by determining optimal solutions.
- Make daily labor management decisions to ensure that ideal staffing levels are maintained to take care of customers, without overspending the labor budget.
- Practice safe cash handling and cash management, including managing the store safe when serving as the manager on duty.
- Perform management functions in Keystroke, such as refunds and voids.
- Serve as the primary in-store trainer of new cashiers, deli staff, and gas attendants, and report to the Training Coordinator on the progress of each new employee.
- Coach employees on correct procedures.
- Ensure that all of the store’s inventory counts are being performed on schedule, and give regular status updates to the General Manager about inventory counts.
- Communicate any product or supply outage to the General Manager or Assistant General Manager so that appropriate quantities of items can be ordered.
- Ensure that all price changes are made to products while serving as the manager on duty.
- Perform physical inventory counts, and ensure that managers on all shifts are performing their inventory counts as well.
- Stock product for customers.
- Serve as the primary closing manager.
- Ensure employee awareness of safety and emergency procedures.
Requirements:
- The employee must be proficient at each of the store’s positions (cashier, deli, and gas attendant, where applicable).
- Previous management experience required.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively coach/develop others.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, motivational, communication and organizational skills.
- An upbeat demeanor, with a sales-oriented personality.
- Ability to do repeated bending, lifting and stooping as well as lifting up to 50 lbs., and the willingness to roll up sleeves and get the job at hand done.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
