Job Description

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN NEWTON KS

General Summary :

Support and assist the Production Supervisor, Crew Lead, and Production Employees in daily operations to ensure efficiency and productivity.

Specific Responsibilities & Expectations : Unloading Steel Trucks

Unload tubing and flat steel trucks, ensuring all incoming steel undergoes proper inspection.
Accurately document received materials on purchase orders, verifying correct amounts.
Complete all unloading tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

Marking and Storing of Steel

Properly mark and store all incoming steel products, including applying tags and paint identification.

Material Handling

Move steel to south fabrication machines as directed by the Crew Lead.

Ensure operators have the necessary materials to maintain workflow efficiency.

Cleanliness & Organization

Maintain the cleanliness and organization of steel storage areas.

Participate in general shop cleanup as directed.

Scrap Bin Management

Regularly empty scrap bins as needed and as instructed by the Crew Lead.

Direct Labor Tasks

Perform direct labor activities as assigned by the Crew Lead and Production Supervisor.

Position Requirements :

Friendly and cooperative demeanor when interacting with drivers and operators.

Strong personal integrity and dependability.

Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Initiative to seek alternative solutions or improvements in workflow.

Valid Class C Driver’s License.

Experience operating overhead cranes / hoists (preferred).

Physical Requirements :

Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 80 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently.

Requires occasional sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and overhead reaching.

Continuous exposure to workplace noise.

Frequent standing, twisting, and walking on concrete surfaces.

Strong hand-eye coordination required.
