LAC Federal is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reference Librarian to join our team. As a Reference Librarian, you will provide essential reference services, manage data curation, and ensure the efficient operation of our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) library. Responsibilities
- Support a science-based federal agency by managing the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of both physical and digital catalog collections.
- Develop and implement preservation strategies to ensure long-term access and usability of all resources.
- Create and manage metadata and taxonomies to facilitate efficient cataloging, searching, and retrieval of resources.
- Provide training and guidance to library staff and users on effectively using physical and digital library resources.
- Collaborate with subject librarians to support digital scholarship initiatives and enhance research and teaching activities.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in digital librarianship and information management to continuously improve library services.
- Participate in additional duties, including tracking usage statistics, assisting with special projects, and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Physical Requirements
Ability to move around the office, lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds (occasionally up to 35 pounds). Ability to sit for prolonged periods while maintaining focus on detailed projects, such as working on computer screens or handling paperwork.
