This is an Associate Coordinator of Non-Academic Area position job description at Louisiana State University Health Science Center-Shreveport with primary duties of distributing materials throughout the Medical School, receives purchase orders into the PeopleSoft system, maintains an extensive filing system for all receipts and purchase orders relating to the Medical School, Materials Management, and troubleshoots problem documents. The expeditious distribution of materials to the using departments requires the incumbent's constant attention. The incumbent will perform duties assigned while receiving only general guidance from the supervisor. The incumbent will follow procedures, guidelines, and polices for the department operations using established Louisiana State University Health Science Center—Shreveport and departmental verbal or written directives. Regular attendance is required for this position to perform functions listed below. Normal hours of work are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and may be adjusted to meet the department's needs. Overtime may be required. Lunch and breaks are dictated by workflow and are per the employee's handbook. Incumbent will maintain customer awareness in acknowledging and responding to the needs as they occur to assure that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
60% Perform functions necessary for the receipt, handling, and expediting materials to include the following:
Incumbent processes receipts utilizing documentation from incoming freight. Items requiring refrigeration or freezing upon arrival to ensure these items receive the highest priority through the distribution system. Items designated as priority, whether ordered through the purchasing system or packages shipped directly of departmental personal. Assist with the tracking of the items delivered to the departments.
Performs functions necessary for the operation of a staging area for all materials for distribution. Coordinated with departments to schedule delivery of large bulky items requiring using department storage and assembly. Work directly with vendors for delivery of items the Materials Distribution Department is unable to deliver. Inform departments when deliveries cannot be made because personnel were not available to sign for materials. May be required to drive, load and unload the department's vehicles on a regular basis for the purpose of picking up and distribution of materials as directed by the supervisor. Therefore incumbent must be able to possess a driver's license in Louisiana.
40% Perform functions necessary for the receipt, storage, and distribution of all compress gases used for research as an agent for General Service Store. Coordinate directly with different vendors to maintain a continuous and uninterrupted supply of compress gasses for research.
Perform functions necessary for the preparation and shipment of outgoing materials and determine the mode of transportation depending on the priority of the materials being shipped and availability of transportation carriers. Coordinate the pickup of all items being returned to vendors by departments and outgoing shipment of equipment.
Work in close coordination with radiation with radiation safety personnel to assure all radioactive items shipped and received are handled according to Federal and State law.

Qualifications
Applicant must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited university and 3 years of warehouse experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent and four (3) year of warehouse experience.
