This employee reports to the Director for the Office for Student and Community Engagement and is responsible for developing and implementing community outreach opportunities and professional development seminars for faculty, staff, students, residents, and fellows. This Senior Program Manager will collaborate with the Director and Program Coordinator to provide services, resources, and opportunities to enhance the recruitment and retention of students with health-oriented interests.

Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position.

Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.

Essential Position Functions & Duties

45% Recruitment

  • Execute strategies to design programs for middle and high school students that could enhance recruitment for the Schools of Medicine, Graduate Studies, and Allied Health Professions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the Louisiana State University-Shreveport’s LA PREP program director and local middle and high school principals and counselors.
  • Schedule and participate in recruitment fairs at local middle and high schools.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Program Manager and communication department to design promotional material for college and career readiness programs (K-12 initiatives) coordinated by the Office for Student and Community Engagement.
  • Respond to inquiries concerning the institution’s college readiness and community outreach programs/initiatives which focus on middle and high school students.
  • Screen and evaluate Ready. Set ACT Prep applications.
  • Review and submit all program requirements for ReadySet program requirements.

35% Community Engagement and Experiential Learning

  • Coordinate and facilitate Community Education Opportunities (CEO), Interactive Days of Education and Awareness of Science (IDEAS) Day, and the LA PREP program.
  • Communicate all department activities to the Medical and Strategic Communications department.

10% Data Collection

  • Maintain accurate data collection for assigned programs.
  • Create, manage, and disseminate assigned program surveys.
  • Maintain accurate college and career readiness data and assist in analytics requests by the AVC of Student and Community Engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and/or scale career and college readiness programs, as needed.
  • Collaborate with other LSU Health Shreveport business units on assigned tasks, as needed.

5% Management

  • Coordinate the ReadySet ACT Prep Workshops
  • Coordinate the Parent Orientation.

Non-Essential Position Functions & Duties

5% Marginal Functions (5%)

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicant must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts from an accredited university.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • 5 years of work experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, Education, Business Administration Public Administration with a concentration in Administration of Health or Healthcare Administration and 2 years of work experience at an higher education institution.
