What are the responsibilities and job description for the MIE Graduate Coordinator position at LSU Mechanical & Industrial Engineering?
The Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (MIE) Graduate Coordinator is responsible for all administrative logistics associated with the MIE Graduate Programs, student related payroll and personnel, scholarships and fellowships, course support and MIE website. The MIE Department is home to 6 degree programs, 2 cost recovery centers, and 2 research centers (CeRoM, TIER). When fully staffed, it is supported by 6 office and 8 technical staff members that serve 35 T/TT Faculty, 5 Instructors, 5-7 p/t Instructors, multiple Post-docs and Research Associates, ~1300 UG students and ~100 graduate students. Research expenditures are in the range $3.5M-$4.5M annually.
Job Responsibilities:
45% Responsible for all academic administrative, organizational logistics and communications associated with the MIE Graduate Programs, including managing graduate admissions, orientation, assignment of desk space, supporting graduate student progress, course support, supporting graduate program events. This position also assists the ME Graduate Program Director and IE Program Director. Acts as the Departmental liaison with campus offices which include the Graduate School, International Services Office, Payroll, HRM, Registrar, College of Engineering.
45% Serve in the Student Employment Partner and Timekeeper role in Workday. Processes all student related personnel forms, both graduate and undergraduate. Oversees the placement of student workers and maintains student aid balances. Works closely with the CCM and Accountants on balances for personnel appointments. Trouble shoots payroll and time entry problems. Provides supervision, orientation and training of student workers. Responsible for processing graduate fellowships, scholarships and awards.
5% Serves as the MIE webmaster which includes maintaining the website, creating new pages and updating pages. Acts as liaison between the College of Engineering office, Strategic Communications and ITS.
5% Act as a back-up for the office staff, including the Undergraduate Programs Coordinator, with associated cross-training. Perform other tasks assigned depending upon the needs of the Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience or master’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
3 or more years experience in a university setting; Familiarity with Workday, Graduate Programs and Graduate School rules and regulations.
