Summary
The Electronic Systems Administrator is responsible for planning, configuring, installing, maintaining, and securing the County's electronic systems infrastructure to include audiovisual, CCTV security cameras, access control, telecommunication systems and the general network infrastructure. Responsible for determining and recommending solutions and the procurement of equipment consistent with the system's needs. Assists in project management as assigned, provide excellent service and support on technology needs to user base and management, and work closely with technology team and departments under general supervision. This position may work after normal business hours including on-call.
Essential Duties
- Provide system management to all facilities to include efficiency, disaster recover, and routine systems maintenance to increase availability, reliability, enhancing business continuity.
- Assist with systems design and assess technology resources effectiveness on existing and future technologies. Determine practicality of change by following change management processes.
- Ensure overall system security to include remote connections.
- Perform and coordinate various installations and supports for communication equipment and services at all facilities including switches, hubs, routers, firewalls, cabling, voice and data circuits, wireless, phone systems, audiovisual equipment, mobile units, workstations, and peripherals.
- Wire networks cabling, climb into attic space, crawl space, and / or on ladders to reach devices.
- Provide routine reports of various types on system performance and efficiency.
- Work with consultants and other agencies on integration, implementation, upgrades, and access.
- Provide user technical support and training with excellent customer service and problem solving.
- Manage a work order system for all work performed.
- Assist with technology solution selection with focus on enterprise use.
- Participate in research, development, and testing to propose appropriate technology.
- Assist with development of best practices and organization wide technology policy.
- Manage assigned projects to completion using knowledge of project management principles.
- Coordinate technology equipment purchases for department and users through the approved procurement process.
- On-call assignment to support critical business functions after normal hours and as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : Associate Degree in Computer Science or closely related field with Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in IT or AV operations. (High school diploma plus 4 years of experience may be substituted for the required education
and minimum experience.) Obtain ITIL Foundation Certification within 1 year of employment. Pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and comply with CJIS standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS : Work generally performed in a climate controlled building with minimal exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The physical requirements of the job include the ability to sit, talk, kneel, bend at both the waist and knee, reach with the arms over the head, and hear, both on the telephone and in person, using regular conversational tones; vision requires the ability to focus and read printouts, computer, screens, and other written material. Duties may require lifting up to 35 pounds and have the use of hands and fingers to perform essential functions of the job, i.e., typing, data entry, using the calculator, and operating other office equipment.
