The Operations Controller is responsible for upholding the standards, requirements, and integrity of the Lubbock County Treasurer’s Office. The Operations Controller assists in maintaining the proper function of daily operations, along with the assigned duties and responsibilities.
The Operations Controller is responsible for their core duties, assigned projects, and assisting and supervising other clerks. The Operations Controller core duties may include:- Exercise legal awareness to process bond dispositions
- Use sound judgement and an understanding of the court system to maintain a central database of bonds and direct bonds to the correct court
- Coordinate between the jail, District Attorney’s Office, and Court Administration to resolve issues
- Assist customers in person, by telephone, and email
- Determine best course of action if a scenario is out of the norm
- Supervise duties performed in both Odyssey and Munis
- Supervise all employees
- Reconcile funds received daily
- Track wired funds received to remittance forms
- Assist in preparing quarterly reports for the Texas Comptroller and Internal Revenue Service
- Maintain spreadsheets for monthly and quarterly reconciliations
- Reconcile Certificate of Deposit interest weekly
- Prepare monthly reports for the Texas Comptroller
- Process bank account transfers
- Initiate payment to the IRS for biweekly payroll taxes
- Initiate requisitions for accounts payable refunds
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: The Operations Controller is accountable to the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer. The Operations Controller will supervise all employees according to County policy. The Operations Controller must make reasonable and responsible decisions to complete daily operations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university is required. Coursework in accounting studies or relevant experience in business or banking are required. Experience in customer service is highly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must possess exceptional oral and written business communication skills. The ability to work with people at all levels with independence in opinion and integrity. Advanced knowledge of computing and Microsoft programs, particularly Word and Excel. Display ability to use extreme discretion and advanced knowledge of accounting. Must be able to perform complex level tasks related to cash management and internal financial compliance. Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume office to produce accurate work and meet established deadlines. The ability to frequently use a computer, telephone, and various office equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The ability to spend much of each workday sitting and working indoors, standing, walking, talking, listening. Use of hands and/or fingers to handle, pick-up, grasp, pinch, type or feel; frequent lifting of objects up to 20 pounds; close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The ability to stand, walk, bend, drive, and spend time outdoors occasionally. The ability to work full time (40 hours/week). Work outside of normal office hours (Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) may be required to meet deadlines and accuracy requirements.
