The Line Maintenance Technician conducts line upgrades, troubleshoots, handles repairs and preventative maintenance service. The Line Maintenance Technician will also maintain scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment, pumps, motors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and conveyor systems and is responsible for general warehouse building maintenance and repair.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) following a precise PM program
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic
  • Ability to troubleshooting and repair of bottle filling, packaging, and production machines
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals, schematics and work orders to perform required maintenance and service on production lines and warehouse equipment
  • Enters information into computer database to produce information related to PM program.
  • Produces reports for line down trends and action related plans
  • Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules and regulations to include Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) compliance when performing maintenance and repairs. Participate in Safety Committee
  • Works with Shop Floor Control process, Root Cause Analysis to eliminate downtime and waste reduction
  • Participate in lean production methods for reducing waste in a manufacturing process and changeovers
  • Assist with developing and implement operating procedures designed to eliminate production problems / waste, reduce change-over time, and improve product quality
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Technical School Education related to maintenance is highly desirable

Experience and/or Training:

  • Minimum of 2 years manufacturing related maintenance and repair experience on manufacturing packing machines and general warehouse equipment troubleshooting and repair
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present and train in front of groups
  • Exposure to high-speed equipment and machines is desirable
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulics air systems
  • Experience with AC and DC electrical current and PLC Controllers
  • Ability to use welding equipment
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Technology/Equipment:

  • Basic Microsoft Office proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, and Word
  • Inventory Management System (JDE)
  • Understand laptops and projectors for training purposes

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

Employee must have the ability to lift/carry up to 70 pounds occasionally and push/pull drums weighing up to 400 lbs. occasionally. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or use hands, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk and climb staircases frequently. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations. Employee should have the ability to work flexible hours or weekends, as business needs dictate. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work performed in a warehouse environment and extreme heat (>80 degrees) during summer months. Employee may work at different workstations as production needs require, or shift from one station to another, during the production process. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - safety eye glasses and safety steel-toe shoes are required. Work hazards - Safety concerns to include heavy products, light and heavy-duty machinery, forklifts, working in a congested and high activity warehouse. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
