Job Description

The position of Assistant Director will provide direct supervision of the managers over the continuum of prevention, treatment and recovery services, including client rights. The continuum is designed to meet the needs of children, adolescents and adults and is consistent with Board established priorities. This includes the Manager of Crisis and Treatment Services, Manager of Prevention and Recovery Services and Manager of Client Rights and Housing.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the alternate for the Director of Programs and Services.
  • Provides direct supervision and leadership to the Manager of Crisis and Treatment Services, Manager of Prevention and Recovery Services and Manager of Client Rights and Housing. This includes handling day-to-day issues within the areas.
  • Works with Manager of Crisis and Treatment Services, Manager of Prevention and Recovery Services and Manager of Client Rights and Housing to help problem solve issues / situations.
  • Provides direct support to the Manager of Client Rights and Housing regarding onsite visits when needed, documentation, and report writing.
  • Participates in the long-term strategic planning that focuses on the needs of children, adolescents and adults. Assesses continuum of care for Strengths, Weaknesses, and Opportunities
  • Recommend policies that advance the efforts of a resiliency and recovery focused system of care for consumers with mental health, gambling, and alcohol and other drug treatment needs
  • Through the provider network ensures the development of a continuum of behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents and adults with mental health, substance use, and / or gambling problems that includes prevention, early intervention, mental health and AOD treatment and recovery support services.
  • Collaborates with the consumers, providers, and community stakeholders to ensure that programs and services are responsive to local needs and are consistent with Board established priorities.
  • In absence of the Director of Programs and Services serves as the Board's liaison with providers, consumer advocacy groups, state departments and / or other stakeholders to assist with problem solving multi-systemic issues that are in the best interest of the consumer and community.
  • Oversees the mechanisms that are in place for the transition from child / adolescent services to adult services is managed and coordinated with the least disruption and maximum benefits to the consumers.
  • Identifies opportunities for collaboration with stakeholders to address common interest such as prevention, gambling and the needs of persons with behavioral health issues involved in criminal / juvenile justice, development disabilities, child welfare, etc.
  • Provides oversight of prevention, treatment and support services for children, adolescents and adults provided by the provider network and ensures the rights of consumers are upheld.
  • Assists the Director of Programs and Services with the planning for the Board's disaster preparedness and grant writing activities.
  • Prepares and provides reports on issues, programs, services, projects and initiatives to the Executive Director, Board, Board Committees, OMHAS and other entities where accountability exists.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Masters' Degree with a Master's level independent licensure (LISW, LPCC), or ability to obtain the license within one year
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the behavioral health field
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
