Lucas County Information Services has an opening for a IT Operations Systems Analyst. This role is to ensure the performance and uptime obligations of applications, servers, storage and datacenter related functions are met. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of systems management, maintenance, and performance. The IT Operations Systems Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on their findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve malfunctions and make the appropriate recommendations in order to meet uptime obligations and maximize the benefits of IT investment.

- Install new and/or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, databases, storage, etc. in accordance with standards, project and operational requirements.
- Identify and resolve server and datacenter issues in order to maintain services, enhance capabilities, and prevent/minimize system outages.
- Support project managers and end users to define systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
- Assist programmers, application analysts in coordinating, implementing, and testing new and existing processes in test and production environments.
- Analyze day-to-day functions and processes of software and database resources to ensure they are performing within predetermined guidelines, limits, and specifications.
- Develop strategies for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of existing server and datacenter related IT infrastructure.
- Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in datacenter infrastructure.
- Responds to reports of technical problems and works with the team to fix them quickly and document issues and resolutions.
- Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts for new solutions and/or replacement of legacy equipment.
- Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members.
- Practical experience in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs and flow charts.

- Experience deploying and supporting Microsoft Windows Server (2008, 2012, 2016, 2022)
- Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle SQL databases in an administrator role.
- Experience in system administrator related scripting: Powershell, Batch, Python. etc.
- Experience configuring and managing server virtualization systems: VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix
- Experience supporting enterprise software applications: HCM, ERP,CMS, etc.
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting enterprise backup solutions: Veeam, Commvault, Avamar,EMC Data Domain, etc.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise storage solutions: Compellent, Powerstore, NetApp, etc.
- Experience configuring, managing enterprise infrastructure monitoring solutions: Solarwinds, Whatsup, vRealize, Nagios, SCOM, etc.
- Knowledge configuring, troubleshooting, and managing applications/services utilizing network protocols: TCP, SMB, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, SNMP, SSH, iSCSI, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Associates degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Certifications: Related certifications from Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, etc. preferred.
- Experience: With degree, minimum two years’ experience OR with certifications, minimum four years’ experience. Preferred role: System Administrator, Operations Analyst, DBA, Datacenter Technician, etc.
- Responsibilities occasionally require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advance notice.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers, servers and peripherals up to 50 lbs.
- Certain positions within this classification may require driving. When driving is an essential function of the position, a valid driver’s license will be required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Successfully pass a thorough background investigation.
- Employees must be willing and able to respond to after-normal workday or irregular and on-call emergency requests on nights, weekends and holidays.
