JOB DESCRIPTION: AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND EXPANDED LEARNING LEAD

Job Summary (in addition, 30 days of summer school/expanded learning support)

Works independently under the general supervision of the ELOP Coordinator to operate and maintain an after school program outlined in State and Federal law. ELOP lead, under the direction of the ELOP coordinator or designee, is responsible to develop and implement a curriculum and maintain an environment that is safe, appropriate and meets the individual needs of the children enrolled in the program. Responsible for the direct supervision of all children enrolled in any TK through Grade 6 after school programs, as well as overseeing direct supervision of all staff, staff schedules, and site resources for all assistant staff members. Facilitates and maintains program organization through appropriate and accurate record keeping and reporting requirements. Assures implementation of quality standards for the Expanded Learning Opportunity Programs.

Essential Functions:

1. Follows Lucerne Elementary School procedures and policies.

2. Under direction of the site administrator or designee is responsible for planning indoor and outdoor activities and routines for large groups of children, which are safe and secure, prevent accidents, promote problem solving and learning, are developmentally appropriate, promote growth in all developmental areas, reflect children’s learning styles and meets the needs of all children.

3. Maintain, collect, and submit accurate, timely records and reports required for this program.

4. Ensures the respect and needs of all children, families and staff are included in program planning and implementation.

5. Ensure regular communication with parents and children. Works cooperatively with all staff, provide supervision and help to promote a positive atmosphere in the office and centers. Actively address any form of prejudice and discrimination and promote a positive acceptance and understanding of all cultures.

6. Under the direction of the site administrator or designee, plan and implement schedules and curriculum that is age appropriate, literacy based and supports the school site’s academic goals and objectives.

7. Attend monthly ELOP staff meetings as well as participation in on-site and off-site learning opportunities in accordance with professional needs and interests.

8. Work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

9. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

10. Establish support and gain the trust of others.

11. Maintain confidentiality.

12. Work effectively in a strong service environment, under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities.

13. Keep the site administrator or designee informed of all matters important to the site and program.

14. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Certification:

1. High school diploma or the equivalent, and

2. Two years of college (48 units), or

3. AA degree (or higher), or

4. Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction. 5. CPR/First aid certification is required within 4 weeks of hiring date.

6. Must possess a valid ServSafe manager certification.

12 units at an approved college or university that will include courses that cover the general areas of child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum.

Experience:

3 years of experience working with adolescents in a school based setting.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.06 - $30.89 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
