What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Student Educational Services (2025-2026 School Year) position at Lucerne Valley Unified?
DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Superintendent or designee, the Director of
Student Educational Services assists in leadership and coordination of all Student
Educational Service programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Organize and provide general leadership for District Student Education
Service programs and staff.
- Build and oversee a department and a team including budget management,
personnel supervision, compliance and reporting.
- Provide liaison between the District and public and private agencies.
- Assure District compliance with program requirements.
- Assure compliance with state laws and meeting the master plan for special
education requirements.
- Recommend policies and programs essential to individuals with exceptional
needs, ages 3-22.
- Coordinate placement of students with exceptional needs in appropriate
programs outside of district when required. Coordinate 504 plans.
- Interpret and articulate the program to school personnel and the community at
large. Cooperate with public and private agencies, organizations and
professional personnel in securing and providing services for special
education students.
- Develop and maintain complete and cumulative individual records of all
children receiving special services or enrolled in special classes.
- Serve as a resource to schools in interpretation and application of federal,
state, county and local laws and regulations.
- Handle complaints regarding special education students, programs, and
compliance issues.
- Support class curriculum, providing necessary liaison between special
instructional services and regular instructional programs.
- Develop the special education in-service training program for the District and
for each school, relating program activities to those of appropriate state or
intermediate agencies.
- Assist in the operation of the Individualized Educational Planning Teams,
assuring that proper assessment procedures are followed Lucerne Valley Unified School District is committed to becoming a model district in the State of California. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid CA Teaching or Services Credential
- California Administrative Services Credential or enrollment in an
Administrative Program
