Goal of This Role:

Lucid Bots is hiring its first Director of Human Resources to define and execute the long-term people strategy that enables Lucid Bots to scale while maintaining a strong, people-first culture. This is our first HR hire, meaning you will be both a builder and a strategist. You won’t just create high-level plans—you will roll up your sleeves and build the HR function from the ground up, implementing the foundational policies, programs, and structures that will support our next phase of growth.

This role reports directly to the Founder & CEO and requires an onsite presence at least 3–4 days per week at our Charlotte HQ. With our growing in-person workforce, having a senior HR leader on-site is essential to supporting both strategic planning and hands-on execution.


What You’ll Do:

  • Build and lead the HR function from the ground up, developing the strategy and executing on critical HR initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a long-term hybrid work model, balancing in-office and remote collaboration.
  • Build out leveling, performance management, and career development frameworks that drive internal growth.
  • Lead workforce planning and headcount strategy, ensuring alignment with OKRs and business milestones.
  • Design and execute executive hiring and leadership development initiatives to scale company leadership.
  • Oversee employee retention and engagement strategies, implementing programs that foster culture, performance, and long-term commitment.
  • Partner with department leads and executives, providing strategic HR insights and guidance.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, issue resolution protocols, and escalation paths to support a fast-moving, high-growth organization.
  • Manage HR compliance and risk mitigation, ensuring adherence to employment laws across domestic and international operations.
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and employee experience initiatives, ensuring competitive and equitable offerings.
  • Establish internal learning and development programs, partnering with the Executive Operations Manager to provide career expansion opportunities.
  • Provide training and coaching for managers, equipping them with the tools to lead effectively.
  • Own the HR tech stack, ensuring systems like HRIS (Rippling) are optimized for efficiency and scalability.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8 years of progressive HR experience, with leadership experience in a high-growth, fast-paced company.
  • Proven experience in building and scaling HR functions from the ground up.
  • A strategic leader who also executes—you can set high-level strategy while staying involved in tactical implementation.
  • Experience in hybrid work environments, designing policies and structures that support remote and in-office teams.
  • Deep expertise in organizational design, workforce planning, and leadership development.
  • Strong ability to partner with executives, providing data-driven insights to guide business decisions.
  • Experience overseeing HR compliance, employment law, and risk mitigation in a scaling company.
  • A passion for building high-impact teams and fostering an engaging, purpose-driven workplace.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms (Rippling preferred but not required).
  • Bonus: Experience in hardware, manufacturing, or robotics environments, understanding the HR complexities in these industries.
