The Manager, HSE, is responsible for proactively safeguarding the health, safety, and environment of our employees, partners, and the communities in which we operate. This role ensures compliance with the Lufkin HSE Management System while fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement. The position has oversight of HSE programs across the Rockies and Canada.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Corporate HSE and Senior Leaders to develop HSE related KPIs, Goals and Objectives.
- Work with regional leadership to implement tactics to achieve organizational goas and objectives for HSE Performance.
- Provide leadership, direction and oversee the successful delivery, implementation and administration of Lufkin HSE policies, processes, and systems.
- Lead by demonstrating the required behaviors, attitudes, and mindset to develop a strong safety culture.
- Maintain knowledge of current HSE practices, policies, trends, and technologies by developing industry working relationships and participating in exchange groups, associations, and committees.
- Interpret and apply region specific legislation, understand codes of practices and industry standards.
- Work with the Global HSE Compliance Manager to ensure that all environmental programs are implemented and being adhered to i.e., SPCC, air permitting, waste disposal etc.
- Act as a change agent to integrate HSE processes consistent with corporate initiatives into the core business process.
- Support HSE internal audits, corporate monitoring and record keeping efforts.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and internal customers in the identification and prioritization of organizational initiatives and objectives.
- Build the trust and respect required to maintain long-term relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with consistent interface with external customers.
- Provide oversight, guidance and coaching on all HSE activities within the operational context (i.e., ensure plans, tools, and processes are in place to allow for success).
- Facilitate and coordinate HSE training that addresses strategic priorities, regulatory requirements, and growth of individuals.
- Lead and direct investigations into all incidents.
- Track HSE performance (leading and lagging indicators) and collaborate with the leadership team to foster continuous improvement and learning.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (4-year) degree from an accredited university or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 2 years management experience and 5 years HSE experience (preferably oil and gas related), ideally with experience in a regional or multi-site environment.
- Strong leadership, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Identify, assess and manage HSE related risks across the region, developing and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Professional certification is a plus (i.e., CSP, CIH, etc.).
- Overnight travel 10%-20%, must have passport for travel outside United States.
- Strong understanding and ability to interpret safety (OSHA/COR/OH&S) and environmental regulations (EPA/DTSC).
- Competent in industrial hygiene, auditing, correction/preventive action planning, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to influence, inspire and motivate people who are not directly under his/her responsibility.
- Experience in HSE related data bases, data tracking, data trending and analysis.
- Microsoft Office applications- Intermediate level.
