What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Associate position at Lumber Liquidators?
This position will work on a standard five-day full-time work week (40 hours). Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with 4 promotional Sundays per year. Stores are open on certain holidays. Occasional overtime based on business and customer needs.
- High school diploma, GED equivalent required Related Experience, Qualifications, and/or Certifications:
- One to three years of sales/retail/customer service experience; experience in a retail environment a plus
- Flooring knowledge a plus
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) skills a plus
- Computer Skills / Special Equipment Knowledge: Basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Outstanding telephone skills
- Experience using a Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Ability to drive/operate a forklift required (forklift certification required prior to operating equipment)
- Effective written and verbal skills
- Basic retail math skills
- Regular and predictable attendance and the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, frequent weekends (Saturday and Sunday), holidays and overtime as scheduled.
- Adaptable to a fast paced, shifting work environment; willing to remain flexible to accommodate changing business conditions, work requirements, customer, and scheduling needs.
- Attention to detail, ability to focus on the project or task at hand, adherence to Company policies and requirements while consistently delivering error free results.
- Achieves personal sales goals and helps ensure achievement of overall store sales and profitability goals as well as operational metrics; demonstrates excellent product knowledge.
- Assists the Store Manager in executing the daily operations of a retail store including but not limited to; sales, gross margin, customer satisfaction, safety, inventory control, expense management, merchandising, setting promotional events, training, opening/closing, alarm response, cash handling, SAP, and facility maintenance.
- Answers phones, makes required sales calls, acknowledges all customers, and responds to inquiries.
- Under the direction of the Store Manager, work to ensure proper inventory levels, by product, to maximize sales opportunities.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, organized and well merchandised showroom.
- Maintains supplies and completes cleaning, maintenance, and support duties as required/assigned.
- Assists in the set up and maintenance of regular and promotional event signage and plan-o-grams.
- Timely completion of all required components of Company training, certification, and compliance programs.
- Resolves customer service issues and complaints in a timely manner to the satisfaction of the customer and to the benefit of the Company; “Thinks like a Customer and Acts like an Owner.”
- Adheres to the Company Code of Business Conduct (Ethics) and all other company policies and procedures.
- Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Establish and maintain effective customer relationships. Seek to understand customer needs and deliver solutions that meet customer expectations.
