Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Senior Accountant role to join our growing and dynamic Finance team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator.   

The successful Senior Accountant candidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You will be responsible for preparing detailed reports on audit findings. You will report to management about asset utilization, audit results, and recommend changes in operations and financial activities. You will collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicate effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate will have the ability to challenge the organization effectively, resolve problems, and willing to provide a hands-on approach in finding solutions.   • Manages all investment and commercial banking relationships; determines, implements, and manages required credit, banking, corporate card and cash management processes, services, and resources.
  • Structures, negotiates, and manages all corporate debt facilities and covenants. Accurately forecasting and reporting liquidity needs, interest income, expense, and related items.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries by compiling relevant data with supported documentation in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare monthly banking reconciliations by reviewing all disbursements and receipts to ensure accuracy in transactions.
  • Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions.
  • Supervise auditing of establishments and determine scope of investigation required.
  • Participate in month-end close process and partner with team members to ensure accurate and timely preparation of internal financial statements.
  • Responsible for software development/deferred engineering accounting including capitalization and revenue recognition.
  • Assist with year-end audit by preparing various audit work papers and supporting schedules to fulfill requests from external auditors.
  • Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present suggestions for improvement.
  • Responsible for deferred revenue recognition and amortization.
  • Other job duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Senior Accountant will be an experienced, operationally oriented professional who can successfully lead as a very hands-on Senior Accountant to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.

This professional will possess:

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Determine how money will be spent to get the work done, and accounting for these expenditures.
  • The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Technical and business knowledge to include advanced financial modeling and analysis using Microsoft Excel; proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications is also required, including but not limited to Word and PowerPoint. Prior experience with ERP environments and planning in database tools required.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or business administration required.
  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or other related discipline. MBA or advanced degree in Finance strongly preferred; CPA a plus.

ADDITIONAL PRIORITIES: 

The Senior Accountant will prioritize and broadly execute the following:

  • Knowledge of banking, accounting, finance, and tax.
  • Experience working with global companies and understand reporting, SOX compliance and GAAP impact of the treasury function.
  • Hands-on, self-starter with strong business/common sense.
  • Goal-oriented and possesses the ability to prioritize on a consistent basis in an ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, organization and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, Board members, Committee members or other outside partners.

 

 

LOCATION:

Plano is a city in the state of Texas, just north of downtown Dallas. It is a hub for many corporate headquarters and has been rated by Forbes as the safest city in 2011. Plano has many visitors, 80% of which are business travelers. The Preston Road area is home to major corporate headquarters of Fortune 1000 companies which have brought thousands of jobs to the area.

Plano has two major space reserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (200 acres) and Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve (800 acres). Bob Woodruff Park and Oak Point Park are connected by biking trails providing an abundance of outdoor recreation for families in Plano. These parks also include activities such as zip lining and Tarzan swings. They have five recreation centers that feature pools, dog parks, and amphitheaters for entertainment. This represents 84 parks. They feature an annual balloon festival every September that draws thousands.

Collin College has two campuses in Plano. Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Dallas Baptist University also have campuses in Plano. There are 70 public schools and 16 private schools. Plano has more graduates than other comparable communities in Texas, graduating 93% of their classes, and score 18 percentage points higher than the same population in Dallas. Many graduate as National Merit Scholars.

Plano is served by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). They provide commuter services via bus and light rail systems. The system is used by 1% of the population.

As far as arts, culture, and entertainment, Plano is home to over 700 restaurants. There is a thriving downtown scene that is rated in the top ten within the country. This includes new office spaces as well as major retail establishments. Plano is a major, busy, bustling city and one of the best places in the United States to live.
